Worlding Through Socially Engaged Art Practice In Basel
Led by director/curator Julie Beauvais and part of the transdisciplinary project “The Witness”, the Openlab offered the opportunity to extend our practice into the field of artistic research and to engage fully on both an embodied and a spiritual level with the communities that we are part of, expanding our attunement to encompass ourselves, the other and the world, by building upon a practice of deep listening and mutual care.
As part of the group of “urban witnesses”, we explored the trans- and cross-border community around Basel, striving to foster a deeper understanding of shared identity and the borders that shape us, while challenging conventional perspectives in our interconnected world of globalization and technology.
Our documentation consisted of multimedia works: videos, field recordings, interviews, performances/improvisations, sound pieces, animations, poetry. Our work can be explored here.
The project finalized with a presentational event @Museum Tinguely, Basel, on 14.12.23
In June 2024, I presented the project at the Forum Artistic Research International Symposium, that took place at Gustav Mahler Private University of Music, Klagenfurt, Austria.
